Our personal favorite and the first tour we had upon arrival to DC. It was magical to see some of these sights in the shadows and lights. Did you know that the White House was highlighted in purple and orange lights for Halloween? There are fewer people around the monuments in the evening allowing for buses to have easier access to the areas.
I really enjoyed my tour with Henry! He was kind, funny, and best of all, he was very well versed in the details of the monuments. I have been to most of these monuments before, but never knew any of the tid-bits that Henry shared with us. One thing I would suggest I took this tour the end of October is to sit inside. We were freezing on the top but the bottom was full so we had no choice but to stay sitting up top. I would recommend this trip to everyone, but please note, there is a good bit of up/down and walking on this tour.
Our guide Henry, had lots of information that made the tour interesting.
Each site he gave us information on certain things to view.
Our driver, Charles was also very cheerful and helpful.
Would recommend this tour.
The tour was amazing and our tour guide Henry was fantastic. Very knowledgeable, personable and friendly. Charles the bus driver was also great. Got us to all the sights safely and on time. We would highly recommend this tour to any one visiting DC.
One of the monuments was closed, I can't remember which, but we had a great time. Brittany was awesome, knowledgeable, and funny. You could tell she enjoyed her job and we were glad for it! Our favorite monument was probably the FDR memorial. Just watch your step, there are a lot of places to take a spill, and unfortunately one lady in our group did. She was fine, but it could have been bad. All in all, we loved the tour and would do it again in a heartbeat!
My tour guide was excellent.
Great tour...even in the rain! Tour guide had interesting little facts, responded to the weather challenge well and gave us a great trip.
Great tour! Wonderful tour guide (Brittany).
The tour started late which caused the end of the tour to fast walk several of the sites mainly the Lincoln Memorial was to be viewed in 10 minutes or you would miss the tour bus. Interesting having to run up and down those steps to view a very special monument in 10 minutes or less.
It was well worth the money and Deon was a very knowlegable tour guide and a wealth of information!!!
Brittany was an AMAZING tour guide, she had fantastic knowledge of the area offering suggesting on what to stop and see. She also has extensive historical knowledge as well. She presented the information in a fun and enjoyable way like you are taking with a friend. Our bus left early and was nearly 4 hours! We saw far more than we thought we would, I highly suggest this tour can't beat the price. The bus was very comfortable and we had plenty of time to stop and enjoy each of the stops without feeling rushed. The one suggestion I have is the tour guide hold something unique that lights up, it was very congested around the Lincoln monument and was challenging to see her amongst all the people in addition to being dark it was difficult to see anyone. Anyone looking to drive a car into DC instead of metro, super easy to park at L'Efant Plaza and pay daily rate of 20. We parked there early in am and toured around DC and then met the bus for twilight outside L'Efant and that is where it ended too so super easy to get back to car.
This was a wonderful way to see many of the sites in Washington. The bus was nice, the trip was smooth, and overall it was a great evening. Our tour guide was personable and friendly, unfortunately he had a very weak historical knowledge. He stumbled over several dates although he eventually corrected himself and gave a couple of big historical inaccuracies. For example, he said that Nixon was impeached which he wasn't. He also walked very, very quickly which made it difficult for many people in our group to keep up. We really enjoyed this tour.....we just stopped paying attention to the guide early in the evening.
Henry, the tour guide, and Gracialys, the driver, made this tour Great! The information provided was not only educational but interesting. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour. And they were kind enough to pick us up and drop us off at our hotel. Thanks for a memorable experience.
Good views of the city, but the guide waked and talked to fast and sometimes mumbled his comments, which greatly detracted from the tour. We wouldn't suggest this tour
This tour was amazing! Our tour guide Henry was full of background on the city, memorials, history! I learned a lot about the city...and I thought I already knew a lot! Awesome guide! Our driver Al was the best, safely maneuvering through the city! I would definitely use this tour again!
What a great way to see DC! The tour was amazing and the guide was very informative and fun too!
I cannot remember my tour guide's name, but he was phenomenal!! He has a love of history that was very apparent in all the stories he told about each monument and building. If the other tour guides are even half as good as he is, then you won't be sorry for taking the time out for this tour!! This was my second DC Twilight Tour, but the first was with a different company. I would recommend this tour above any other. I've mostly been in DC for conferences, so this is a great way to see of the city in a short amount of time.
The guide we had was absolutely remarkable and provided lots of extra history in which he takes the time to research on his off hours. Would do it again with the same guide.
good tour, great tour guide named Henry who made the tour interesting and a delight.
The Tour was wonderful and our tour guide Henry was the best. Our driver Nick was also very nice and helpful. My only recommendation would be make sure you know where to start the tour. The directions given for where to start tour were not helpful and we almost missed the start. The tour itself was amazing and Henry added so much to our experience!
Good job Vern! Very entertaining and informative tour. Best way to see DC at night.
The tour was late so it was a bit rushed. It was still enjoyable. I was especially entranced with the World War ii Memorial and the FDR Memorial.
It was a thorough and mostly enjoyable experience for the four of us who were traveling together. Henry, our guide, was quite entertaining and informative. My one criticism was this: On a very cold night, Henry took us outside for a great deal of his talk. We stood in the cold and the wind for quite a while, shivering, before moving on to see the sight or to re-board the bus. We suggest that it would be more effective, under those circumstances, to have the bulk of the talk on the bus and then to take less time outside to see the attraction and take pictures.
I enjoyed the tour and really appreciated a tour guide with a good sense of humor, and learning fun did bits of information that you might not read about. Thank You!
Henry was an outstanding tour guide. I have done this tour before with out of town guests but I learned more this time, from Henry, than ever before. Bravo!
this was my first trip with this company, but I have taken 2 other nighttime trips with the other company's Both were better.
Really good tour and the right amount of time at each monument. Henry was a really good guide, he knew what he was talking about and answered all questions put to him. gOOD VALUE FOR MONEY.
We had a great time. Our guide was great and allowed us to see everything we wanted to. The only concern I have is for those who may have been on a television schedule. The tour was listed as 3 hours but it was almost 4 hours total which for us was fine but if we had other plans afterward we would have been late.
Tour guide was well-informed and very interesting.
We were lucky to have Brittany as our guide and Charles as our driver. It was a wonderful introduction to DC on our first day.
Henry was our tour guide and he was extremely knowledgeable about DC and proud to share his stories. Nicholas was a wonderful driver. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip which was more than we expected.
Tour itself was excellent however tour guide had a few facts incorrect. It was a warm night so the open top deck was just the place to e for the best views. We started out on the tour 15 minutes late which was disappointing as we rushed to be on- time per the request to be 15 minutes ahead of tour time to board. Perhaps they should provide updates to passengers already on the bus. But the tour made up for leaving late by extending time a bit.
The tour was great but the guide had a lot to be desired. When we stopped at a venue, he would say 15 minutes and maybe in half an hour he would be back to the bus. The tour was supposed to be 2.5 hours and lasted nearly 4 hours and the metro stopped running at midnight. We barely made the last train out from downtown. His remarks were very political and not appropriate for a general audience on a tour.
The guide Henry was very much worth this tour. He was able to tell you anything you wanted to know about each and every monument. Some of the places we stopped at were hard to see at night but otherwise it was a very interesting evening.
We greatly enjoyed the hop on hop off night tour with David! He was very informative, as well as entertaining throughout the trip. I would definitely recommend this tour to others.
Our guide Henry was very knowledgable about all the sights in DC and very entertaining at the same time. Nick the driver rocked it out too. I'm always amazed by these guys. Wait for the day tour to get pictures but the night when you get the better history.
Very nice tour, our guide Henry was the best!! The bus itself is a double decker, the bottom is enclosed with a/c and a bathroom, the upper deck is open air so if you want to take unobstructed pictures from the bus, that's the place to be. The only reason I didn't rate the tour a 5 is that there are some monuments that are not lit or not lit properly so it can be more difficult to see in the dark. Otherwise a very nice tour and Henry was extremely knowledgeable about all the sights we visited.
This was an excellent tour . The guide's name was Robert , and he made sure we had ample time at each memorial / monument . He also provided extra bits of info about DC and Arlington National Cemetery , as well as each memorial .
He also made sure we kept our seats My only warning would be to make sure you are prepared to have wind hitting your head and hair at close to 60 mph when the open air 2 decker bus takes you to Arlington and back ! The kids on board loved it , but it was pretty intense , and unexpected
I booked this tour for my daughter and I while in DC. As some have mentioned it does have a lot of walking even though your on a bus. We weren't allowed to enter the area to view the White House as Secret Service shut it down as we arrived, but not the tour companies fault at all. Worth the money considering other companies are charging a lot more for the same thing.
Wonderful, informative tour. The night time is beautiful. This is a must see!
The tour was great. It was a little difficult finding the actual exit from L'enfant Plaza if you took the metro, but there was a phone number with the voucher and I was directed to the roofless double decker bus. The tour ended up lasting a solid four hours. It did rain once, but they were well stocked with ponchos for everyone. Our tour guid was great. Enthusiastic, informative, friendly. The only drawback I would have to say is that while he had great passion and knowledge for FDR, our tour guide spent almost an hour at the FDR memorial talking ad nauseum. Again, I appreciate that he had passion for FDR, but it was clear that he was losing the interest of the group. I would have liked to have spent more time at other memorials and sites, and less time confined to that one memorial. But I get it, FDR was his jam. It just wasn't the jam of everyone else.
All in all though, I would definitely recommend this tour, and I did to some of my coworkers who took it a few weeks after me.
Some monuments and memorials were viewed from the bus, others we were able to get off and look around.
It was very difficult to find the bus pickup location from the Metro at L'Enfant. Also our tour guide was not very good, and he was difficult to hear at times from the top of the bus. Still, we saw the monuments, the tour stayed on time, and there were no real problems.
The twilight tour got off to a late start, due to what appeared to be disorganization amongst the employees. A tour coordinator not sure about job title was unbelievably rude to the tourists. The tour guide, however, was pleasant. Due to the late start, we had to move quickly through some sites and skipped a few others. It was still a good way to see some key sights and hear some trivia. It would be good if the tour could be shorter with less commentary and more organized.
We loved this tour!!! The guide was great and very informative. When the tour was over he dropped our group at the metro, which was a huge help! I wish we would have had longer. It and #39;s just hard to pack it all in! The only issue we had was finding where the first meeting place. Highly suggest!
Our guide, Henry, and our driver were absolutely wonderful! Well-informed, professional, courteous, smart, funny, and genuine! It was a warm day but we were having so much fun that no one minded the heat - although the bus was comfortable inside with the air conditioning! Henry is very well-read and made the tour exciting and relevant. I would recommend this trip to everyone who visits Washington! Keep up the super work!
Henry is a fantastic tour guide. Well educated on his subjects and personally passionate about American History. Nick was a great driver. We enjoyed our evening. It was a lot of walking and our 5 yr old started to droop quite a bit at the end. We had plenty of time at each of the stops. This was a great way to kick off our trip to Washington DC!
If you are in the DC area... The Twilight Tour is a must, especially if Henry is your tour guide. He was awesome!! He has a passion for the city, it's history, and the monuments that is contagious. My husband and I had already been on several other city tours during the weeks prior in a couple other states, and by far.. Henry was the best tour guide we encountered!! Thanks Henry for sharing your knowledge and love for Washington DC with us!
Not very accommodating for someone on crutches.
This tour was amazing!
Our tour guide, Brittany, was amazing. She was friendly, funny and smart and had a great collection of DC facts to share. Thanks so much!
Great tour and prepare to do a lot of walking. Our guide Brittany was wonderful and answered a lot of questions from the group. She was even kind enough to call a cab for us to get back to our hotel.
Definitely worth the price!
The tour was nice, saw a lot of things in a short amount of time. Our tour guide was really great but the rest of the staff was less than friendly. The tour also seemed unorganized, we switched busses twice So that was a little weird. Overall a good experience.
Absolutely amazing!! To see those historical monuments in the evening hours was outstanding. Henry, our tour guide was the BEST tour guide ever!!! He was able to convey so much information with a delivery that left us as excited about his job as he obviously is. Mick also maneuvered the bus perfect
The tour was great. The bus driver/tour guide was amazing , knowledgeable and very informative. Also kept us entertained. Please give him a raise! Loved Washington and President Obama.
The tour was very nice. Perfect weather for an evening tour. Guide was very
knowledgeable but difficult to hear at times.
Perfect time to see Washington in the cool afternoon/evening. Plus - seeing the sights at dusk/twilight and some lit at night. Minus - Some memorials are not lit and are not impressive and hard to see in the dark Vietnam Memorial and FDR Memorial. All in all a great way to see many sights in a couple hours and not have to walk the 4 miles it would take to see these on foot in the hot DC sun. Best sights at night - Lincoln Memorial - and views from the memorial.
My tour guide Henry was great. He was very knowledgable and entertaining which made for a great combination to supplement the sites of the city.
The guide/bus driver was rather lame on monument information. We rode on top level of double decker bus and could only hear a muffled sound. When we addressed the issue the driver said it would cause too much static if he turned the volume up. The pickup of tourist was very unorganized. Online description says people must be on time as the bus would not wait for late comers. However, we spent nearly 45 minutes circling back to pick up tourists. The pick up bus has no name of company on it.
We arrived at 6:45 pm for a 7 pm Twilight Tour, only to watch our tour bus driving away. We asked another tour bus parked nearby if that was the Twilight Tour bus driving away and he confirmed it was. Bus driver 2 informed us he was parked there to pick up the stragglers that were late. We pointed out that we weren't late. Three more families arrived all before 7pm and we waited while our tour bus returned to the pick up location to get all of us. When the driver arrived he proceeded to give us a lecture regarding being late and how rude it is to hold up the whole tour. Again we weren't late.
The tour itself was beautiful. The monuments are really amazing lit up at night. The tour was supposed to last approx. 3 hrs. Our tour was done at 9:20 pm. I believe it ended at that time because at each stop our driver would remind everyone not to keep everyone waiting by being late. After the tardly lecture that was broadcast when our family and the three others were picked up at the beginning of the tour, everyone came back to the bus early so that they woudn't be the last person back and appear to be late. My youngest child at age 11 was having anxiety at each stop that we would be left behind, so she was announcing the time very two minutes and wanting to head back long prior to the allocated time. The tour is a nice way to see many monuments in a short period of time but I think the drivers should be required to wait until the departure time to leave.
The twilight tour was fantastic. Our driver/guide was great. She had detailed knowledge of the sites and help the tour very interesting. The tour goes to enough sites that allow you to determine which one you will want to re-visit. Or visit during the day.
My last tour was with a guide who came with the group, I prefer that type as it is easier to find our way around in the dark at the National Mall.
This tour was great! Bus dropped you off right in front of the monuments and gave you plenty of time to explore the monuments on your own and visit the gift shop. Minimal walking and a great way to get to see all the monuments lit up at night. The only reason i am giving it 4 stars was because of the out of the way pick up/drop off location for those not getting picked up/dropped off at their hotel and for the driver that although was full of information and seemed friendly enough, never smiled and didn't look happy to be there.
Pleasant and accommodating driver!
GOOD, BUT HAD TO TRAVEL TO HOTEL TO TAKE THE TRIP . . . WANTED TO BE PICKED UP AT OUR HOTEL.
This tour was very comprehensive and we really enjoyed it! The tour guide was amazingly funny and very knowledgable. Everything was very professional, the bus was clean, the hop-on/hop-off schedule was perfect to visit the different locations. Would definitely recommend this tour!
I had taken a night tour before and I was looking forward to taking my daughter on her first trip to DC. I was disappointed with this tour. Pick up location was very far away. Reservation requested we be there 15 minutes early and bus was 10 minutes late. It was very cold bu luckily we were able to sit on another bus that was there. The tour guide was friendly but was hard to understand and rushed through his speech in a monotone voice. I would not recommend. My advise is pay a little more and do the signature tour. They stop at better places and tour guides are much better.
tour itinerary and tour guide were great. we were in the back of the bus where the windows on our side were covered in moisture preventing us from seeing out the side windows creating mild to medium frustration. except for windows, tour was great.
Loved the tour! Monuments are fabulous lit up! Guide was great!
One confusing note: when I booked tour, the pick up was listed as Holiday Inn Capitol where we stayed A few days later I received an email stating the pick up was moved to L'Efant Plaza. I happened to call the day of the tour and they said we really would be picked up at Holiday Inn! Just a little stressful...
The tour was wonderful!! Our driver, Dee Dee, was so knowledgeable and friendly!!! I would highly recommend this tour!!!
This was a great tour. We were traveling in a group of eight and we all had a fun time. Our tour guide
Della was personable and informative. One of the best, if not the best tour, that we have taken
As a solo traveler, this was the perfect nighttime experience. The tour guide was delightful and knowledgeable, and I would definitely do the tour again if I return to DC.
Despite all of us having visited the D.C. area many times over the years, I booked this trip for our adult children so they could get an overview by night...and they loved it!
Great tour, I would recommend to see Washington at night and in the day
Some things are better lit than others. Not as impressive as we had hoped but the weather was not kind with a constant drizzle. Only book this if you are sure of good weather.
The places visited were very interesting and the tour guide Al was engaging and very informative
The guide doubled as the driver and because of that, he did not interact with us as much as he should have. He never accompanied us to the monuments -- just pointed his finger as to approximately where they were. Also, because it was October and it gets dark earlier, we couldn't even see some of the places. It was just average, at best.
The twilight tour was the best way to see the Monuments! I brought my University students and we were on a tight daytime schedule. The tour allowed us to take an evening and check off so many items on our must see list, it was amazing!
Tour guide was very knowledgable and excellent driver. Mechanical problems with bus should have been taken care of prior to tour beginning
Tour was informative and nice !
Had the best time with Jamie as our tour guide in Washington dc on 10/8/2015. She was very knowledgeable and kept the tour exciting. What a wonderful day. My wife and I would highly recommend her tours. Thanks Jamie. (Go KC)
This was one of the highlights of our trip to Washington DC. We took this tour the first night of our visit. We especially appreciated being picked up and dropped off at our hotel. Washington DC at night is a lovely site to see. The tour guide was friendly and ver informative.
We booked this tour because of the hotel pickup and drop-off highlights. We had to walk 7 blocks to the pickup place. It was confusing since there were so many tour buses, and we did not know which one to take. We did get the drop-off part which is nice.
Deedee was amazing. She taught us a lot on the history. Needed more time at some of the stops
Vincent was knowledgeable, friendly, and entertaining. More importantly, he stayed on schedule. Got to see a great deal in a brief time and it was different to see the monuments at night as well as being cooler. Also, being picked up and dropped off at one's hotel made it even more convenient. I enthusiastically recommend this tour.
5-Star tour. Very well conducted by Vincent.
Great tour guide, very knowledgeable about the city of Washington. I highly recommend anyone going on this tour to ask for Vinceson.
The tour was a great overview of the main sites to see of DC. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. He didn't seem to like our group though as several of us felt he gave us the the stink eye at every return to the bus. Seemed uncalled for. Some stops were too short for the amount of things to see, but we at least knew to stop on our own time later.
This tour was amazing!
The tour guide was fantastic-very professional and informative. I would recommend it. The add stated pick-up at our hotel: We had to walk 4 blocks to another hotel, but they dropped us off at our hotel afterwards.
The tour was enjoyable and our guide was very good.
