Cajun Encounters Tour Co.

Explore one of Louisiana’s last protected wetlands on a 2-hour boat tour that includes round-trip hotel transport in New Orleans. Depart in the morning or afternoon for Honey Island Swamp, a wildlife preserve teeming with critters such as 'gators, wild boar, snakes and birds. Ride through the swamp dripping with lush foliage and visit a boat-accessible Cajun village with an informative local guide who sheds light on the area’s inhabitants.

What You'll Do

After pickup from your hotel in New Orleans, it's a short drive across Lake Pontchartrain to Honey Island Swamp, a wildlife preserve that is one of the last protected wetlands in Louisiana.

Your guide welcomes you aboard a custom-made 22-passenger flat-bottom boat. The smaller sized, quiet boat can fit through narrow passages in the swamp foliage so that you see more and get closer to wildlife. It’s the ideal way to take in the lush environment of Cajun country.

As your guide explains the history of Louisiana’s wetlands and swamp ecosystem, be on the lookout for resident wildlife including alligators, raccoons, owls, wild boar, nutria, snakes, turtles, black bears, bald eagles and many other bird species. Get a close look at some wild gators as your guide shares facts about the toothy beasts, who can weigh up to 1,000 pounds (453 kg). Their ancestors once roamed the earth with the dinosaurs and scientists estimate that they have existed for more than 150 million years.

Glide safely through the fertile swamplands, learning about Cajun culture and how local people have utilized the swamp for food, homes, and medicine from your guide. You even see an authentic Cajun village that is only accessible by boat. Gain an understanding of why the wetlands are slowly disappearing and about the efforts being made to preserve Louisiana's natural treasures.

After a fascinating 2-hour boat tour on Honey Island Swamp, your guide returns you to shore. You can either take the coach back to your New Orleans hotel or make your own way to your next destination, depending on the option you have chosen when booking.

"Great tour! There was a..."

February 4, 2018 -

Great tour! There was a cold front, so we unfortunately did not see any gators, but Captain Bishop tried so hard to find them for us! His expert commentary made the ride so interesting and so much fun! If ever I visit in warmer weather I would absolutely do this tour again and hope for the same captain! He was awesome!

"Great trip! Transportation was on..."

January 28, 2018 -

Great trip! Transportation was on time and the experience was amazing! I highly recommend this trip!

"The weather was very cold,..."

January 5, 2018 -

The weather was very cold, so no gator sightings but we did see wild pig, raccoons and rats! learned a lot about the swamp and trees growing in the water as well as life living in the swamp.

"this was just so much..."

December 4, 2017 -

this was just so much fun! they don't tell you that the animals come right up to the boat.......you get splashed! I loved this tour!!!

"The only disappointment was that..."

November 28, 2017 -

The only disappointment was that the Big crocodiles had already started hibernation. Did see some smaller ones maybe one footers. Would recommend taking this tour during warmer weather.

"I have always wanted to..."

November 27, 2017 -

I have always wanted to do a swamp tour and this did not disappoint. Had such an incredible time and would do it all over again.

November 10, 2017 -

This was an interesting way to experience the local area.

"Boat captain - Jacob was..."

November 10, 2017 -

Boat captain - Jacob was GREAT! Tour was GREAT! - worth going on - Jacob was extremely knowledgeable, very personable and took us into nooks and crannies that many canoes would not get into! San wild pigs, boars, alligators - feed the pigs - trip is worth recommending to others! Only drawback was not tour's fault - weather changing, big gators are withdrawing into swamp for winter, only smaller gators out now.

"Beautiful scenery. The tour guide..."

November 9, 2017 -

Beautiful scenery. The tour guide was wonderful and had lots of expertise. We saw alligators, turtles, raccoons and are favorite were
the wild pigs. It was a fun and memorable tour!

"The bus ride to the..."

November 7, 2017 -

The bus ride to the swamp was pleasant, KP was knowledgeable and entertaining. The swamp tour was fun and our tour guide went out of his way to stop and arrange the best viewpoints for passengers on both sides of the boat. We saw some beautiful wildlife including small alligators, large birdlife, some little turtles and even some sneaky raccoons. Would have loved an opportunity to see some larger alligators as that's what I expected but other than that a great experience.

"We had an amazing time..."

October 24, 2017 -

We had an amazing time on this tour. Captain Teddy was a blast. He was Knowledgeable and fun. I highly recommend the tour.
The facilities were a bit lacking. I see they are building a new addition, hopefully this will provide food as we left our hotel at 10am and did not get back until 4pm. We were pretty hungry once we got back.

"Wow...what an unexpected, wonderful experience!..."

October 7, 2017 -

Wow...what an unexpected, wonderful experience! Not only did they pick us up near our hotel but the hour ride to the river was narrated. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire tour. Hint...if you want to buy stuff in their gift shop, do it BEFORE the tour leaves. No time to shop after

"This was an amazing trip!..."

Was great to see the legendary Bayous in their natural status. Our tour guide was very enjoyable and funny while showing us the gators, wild pigs, snakes and other wildlife. Coming from a big city, we just dont have access to that so was beautiful.

September 13, 2017 -

This tour was everything we hoped it would be. From the guide on the bus giving us a detailed overview of New Orleans and the areas we were driving through, to the guide on the boat who was knowledgeable and knew where to find the wildlife. I'd recommend this tour 100%

"Bishop was a great and..."

Bishop was a great and entertaining guide

"Great trip - wonderful guide..."

September 7, 2017 -

Great trip - wonderful guide and lots of wildlife. Would do it again.

"We attended this tour last..."

September 6, 2017 -

We attended this tour last week with Captain Dan at the helm. It was everything I was dreaming of! Brutus the 14ft alligator, Cindy the new Mom gator who just laid her first eggs, a family of wild boar, raccoons, a beautiful egret all in the backdrop of the gorgeous swamp. Captain Dan was passionate, excited, and knowledgeable about the wild life which enriched the experience exponentially. Be prepared to tip him after the ride! I saw some passengers fail to do so and I was shocked!

The only negative was the bus transportation which had the AC blowing full blast in the morning and I was freezing I'm basically cold in less than 80 degrees though.

"I would highly recommend this..."

September 5, 2017 -

I would highly recommend this trip to anyone who is visiting NOLA, and I honestly cannot think of one bad thing to say. Our transportation came right on time and picked us up from a hotel that was an easy 4 minute walk from our Airbnb. From there, it was another 45 minute drive to the Bayou, and along the way, our driver whose name I believe was Alvin, was cheerful and friendly, and he gave us vivid commentary about the history and sights of NOLA.

After we got to the Bayou, we boarded our boat, which had a nice cover on the top to protect us from the sun. Our tour lasted a little over 2 hours, and we got to see numerous alligators, beautiful greenery and marshlands, and a couple of pigs. Our boat captain, Captain Teddy, was fantastic. He was so knowledgeable and provided us with ample time to see everything properly. He also gave excellent commentary everywhere we went. He stopped the boat once we got to the pigs and we actually witnessed the pigs and the alligators interact. It was like a scene from National Geographic! He also took us to a Cajun Village and showed us how the locals in that area live. One of the best parts of the trip was when he stopped the boat for a solid 20 minutes or so and allowed each and every person on the boat to feed the alligators. That was very enjoyable.

My only constructive criticism would be this: please consider feeding the alligators something else other than processed hot dogs. A much better alternative could be raw fish, worms, meat, etc. Captain Teddy put pieces of hot dogs on sticks - maybe just consider putting raw meat on the sticks instead? That way we are not causing any harm or injury to the animals.

Other than this, the tour was fantastic and I would say a must for anyone visiting NOLA. Thanks for a great experience!

"This tour is great!!! So..."

September 5, 2017 -

This tour is great!!! So much fun!! A must do. Fed gators from a stick. Saw swamp houses. 2 hr in swamp so cool!!!

August 31, 2017 -

The guide was awesome! We would do this again.

"Great experience and great guide..."

August 30, 2017 -

Great experience and great guide -- Nathan! He was entertaining, kept things light, knew how to attract the alligators' attention, but also passed on some great stories about the history of the bayou and conservation efforts. My whole family enjoyed it. We would definitely do it again!

"The tour was amazing. The..."

August 29, 2017 -

The tour was amazing. The boat drivers were really knowledgeable and showed us amazing areas. The only part that was a little nerve-wracking was the travel bus to the tour. The bus has a hotel route that it goes around, but apparently it can't fit the in French Quarters. Which is fine, but we were called 5 mins before we were suppose to get picked up and were told we had to run and find the bus somewhere outside the quarters. So there was a 10 min runaround of us trying to find the bus. So that part was a little frustrating, but otherwise, the tour was very enjoyable.

"The trip to the swamp..."

August 24, 2017 -

The trip to the swamp was interesting. You don't realize the damage of Katrina until you see it. Once at the swamp we got to see a lot of Alligators, Common Racoon in the forest and wild Boar. The guide explained the life of the swamp, floral and how wildlife and birds survive here. We even got to see turtles and spiders. The only downer was the air conditioner on the bus didn't work properly.

"Great tour. We spotted many..."

August 24, 2017 -

Great tour. We spotted many aligators, birds, spiders, raccoons... Captain Nathan by far is the best. He grew up in the area and knows the area from outside. A must do in New Orleans. Far much better than any swamp tour in the Everglades.

"Great tour! Very entertaining boat..."

August 24, 2017 -

Great tour! Very entertaining boat captain and wonderful venue with lots of close- up and personal encounters with gators, raccoons, spiders and wild pigs. The bayou was fascinating.

"Loved the boat tour with..."

August 22, 2017 -

Loved the boat tour with Captain Jules! I got to see a lot of stuff- alligators, flowers, local plants, birds, crawfish crayfish?, as well as go through some local swamps, marshes, and rivers. Our tour group got to feed alligators- which gets you right up close with them, but its so much fun! Definitely bring sun screen or sun protection! Our captain was very knowledgeable and funny, and focused on our safety at all times. The tour company has a nice place to wait, clean restrooms, snacks and souvenirs available for purchase, and there was a brand new dock under construction as well.

"Jacob was an outstanding guide...."

August 21, 2017 -

Jacob was an outstanding guide. He was knowledgeable, personable, and professional. He made sure we saw the wildlife and gave us the best vantage points for photos. He gave us historical information about the area and insight about the animals. This swamp tour was the best part of my visit to NOLA!

"Had a lot of fun,..."

August 18, 2017 -

Had a lot of fun, saw lots of gators and wild boars, birds, snakes, small turtles.

"My two kids 16 and..."

August 15, 2017 -

My two kids 16 and 19 LOVED this tour. Our tour guide, Sonny, was knowledgeable and entertaining. Seeing the gators up close was a treat. Glad we did this.

"Wonderful tour. From pick-up to..."

August 3, 2017 -

Wonderful tour. From pick-up to drop off.

"This tour really exceeded our..."

August 2, 2017 -

This tour really exceeded our expectations and was the perfect way to spend a nice sunny day, particularly after a night out in town!
We saw loads of Gators as well as a few other critters and the tour guide was excellent. He kept up an entertaining commentary the whole way through and had the perfect mix of humour and facts to keep you interested.

"Great tour that was well..."

August 1, 2017 -

Great tour that was well organized with a good amount of time spent in the water. Lots of alligators to see and get close to. Our boat captain was excellent and shared lots of knowledge about the swamp and the alligators - making sure we were well looked after the whole trip.

"We had a great time..."

July 29, 2017 -

We had a great time on this tour! Saw lots of turtles, pigs, birds and of course alligators! Our guide was very informative and made sure that people seated on both sides of the boat had a chance to see the alligators jump out of the water to snatch a treat. The bus drivers were also very good.

Awesome experience! Bus transportation to and from hotel was simple. Tour guides were excellent and very knowledgeable. Saw alligators and will boar, including babies!

Just a terrific day, everything I could have asked for and more.

"This was perfect. The bus..."

July 21, 2017 -

This was perfect. The bus driver picked us up on time, the tour in the swamp was well done, and even my two small children had a blast!

"This is a great tour..."

July 7, 2017 -

This is a great tour and would highly recommend going with Cajun encounters. The boat was comfortable and didn't have too many people on, we managed to get up really close to the alligators, wild boar and other wildlife. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and the bus driver to take us from New Orleans also gave a very good pre-tour guide to New Orleans on the Journey. They pick you up from your hotel which is convenient and collect other passengers from other hotels. This can take a bit of time so my only suggestion would be for them to create 2 or 3 pick up points across the city centre for people to meet at a set time to reduce waiting time.

"Bob on the boat was..."

July 4, 2017 -

Bob on the boat was great. Knowledgable, helpfull, good humor. However, the Cajun Encounters Tour Co was poor. The tour I signed up for was supposed to pick up at hotel. They chose a meeting place instead and the bus arrived 30 min late. No air conditioner. On the return, the bus came for everybody 1 hour late. No apology and no explanation offered. Just left us sitting outside. And still no hotel drop off

"Dan was a great tour..."

Dan was a great tour guide!

June 24, 2017 -

Great tour! Knowledgeable guide who obviously loved sharing his passion for the swamps and wildlife. His genuine friendliness made you easily forgive the tired jokes. The bus ride was also a fascinating tour of its own. The charming driver I can't remember his name but he mentioned he drives a school bus during the week shared a lot about the area, the history and what it was like growing up there. One of the coolest things I did in New Orleans. I highly recommend it.

"We loved our tour. Jacob..."

June 21, 2017 -

We loved our tour. Jacob was great and made it fun and educational. We saw all kinds of wildlife, and the swamp was beautiful. I would recommend this as a must take tour.
We did not take transport due to previous day and #39;s rudeness. I suggest driving if you have a car.

"We had a great time..."

June 20, 2017 -

We had a great time touring the swamp! Lots of local wildlif. The wild pigs are great to watch. The tour guide was very knowledgeable.

Our tour guide Captain Dan was very informative and got in close to the wildlife. Good value for money! Would highly recommend!

Absolutely loved this tour!!!!! In fact in was our most favorite tour we did on our recent trip to New Orleans!

"Captain Al was great. His..."

June 5, 2017 -

Captain Al was great. His overall knowledge and charmed added to the experience. We saw not only the alligators, birds, pigs and other animals, we saw rice plants and swamp honey trees amongst several other types of vegetation. It truly is a beautiful place and the homes on the river have the life. It was great to here how the locals work together and save theirs spoils from hunting in a local spot where those in need can share and receive. Don't think your missing out on a fats ride with the airboat. Captain Al made some waves too. Hold onto your hats. Here's an additional hint on the bus ride out there. Sit towards the front. Our driver, JC gave a lot of info on places we were passing and really added to the experience. All of this was after a late start do to a bus breaking down. Company managed that with grace. Thanks for a great trip. Definitely I and the rest of my party recommend this trip.

"I really hate giving bad..."

May 6, 2017 -

I really hate giving bad reviews but I can't do anything else here.

I basically didn't even get to go on the trip. I was booked for a 3:30 hotel pickup trip. I was in from of the hotel from 2:45, waited and waited, no call and no pickup. At around 3:45 I got a phone call from them, but the call had some terrible signal, barely could make up what the lady on the other side was trying to say. Call dropped after 2 minutes of that. I tried calling back twice after, just got to voice mail and I never got a second call back. I don't even know if it was the bus driver or their customer service who called in the first place.

After waiting in from of the hotel until 4:15 I just gave up and went on my way exploring. Again, sorry I had to give a bad review, but after wasting 1.5 hours and 55 for literally nothing, I have to.

"A fun way to spend..."

May 5, 2017 -

A fun way to spend the morning away from the busy city. We had hotel pick up which was prompt and very nice. The Cajun Encounters operation is very well organized and staffed. My family of four thoroughly enjoyed our time in the Bayou. Jacob was an excellent tour guide.

"The tour was a lot..."

May 4, 2017 -

The tour was a lot of fun. Captain Sonny was a wealth of information and the gators and wild boar were a big hit. The one negative...Viator receipt showed that we would be picked up at our hotel 10:30-11. We get a call at 10:15 from the concierge telling us the bus is here waiting for us. I asked him to relay to the driver that we were told 10:30 or later and that we would be down as soon as we were ready. As soon as I hang up, the phone rings again this time it's the driver asking/demanding to know when we would be there. I said in a few minutes...not good enough, he follows with does that mean one minute, three minutes, five minutes? To which I replied I'm going to put my shoes on, put my wallet in my pocket, walk to the elevator and come down to the lobby, which I did, only to find that he drove off without us. The concierge called the office and they told us he or another driver would circle back and get us, which is what happened...and our driver was super nice. But I could have lived without the first guy and his attitude.

"I really enjoyed this tour!..."

May 1, 2017 -

I really enjoyed this tour! The bus ride out to Honey Island was interesting. The tour guides are knowledgeable, and you can tell they enjoy their job. We saw quite a few alligators, birds, and even a wild pig.

"This is a MUST DO..."

May 1, 2017 -

This is a MUST DO experience! The bus picked us up at our hotel right on time, every moment of the 3 hours 1 hr driving, 2 hr tour was packed with interesting information and jokes and stories, and we saw lots of wildlife and the beautiful bayou and swamp. Their boats only hold about 20 people, which makes for a really fun experience getting to know other travelers. Tip: Make sure to tip your tour guide. As a former tour guide, I can tell you that they often live on tips. If your tour is 60 per person, try to tip about 15 per person and just build it in to the cost of your tour. They really work hard for your entertainment and they succeed! Our tour guide Sonny was hilarious, engaging, and clearly had a deep love of and respect for the environment we were touring. We will definitely do this again on our next trip!!!

"highly recomend this tour and..."

April 20, 2017 -

highly recomend this tour and company. I need to swap my time slot as 2 other friends decided they would like to come too and phoned and they were happy to do this. We was picked up by our transport at the time stated and took to the swap. What a place it was our guide was friendly and informative. A great day

"Guide and Captain Matt led..."

April 4, 2017 -

Guide and Captain Matt led us on an enjoyable tour. I'm a bit concerned that the wild boar we found was more of a domesticated boar...waited for treats and scratches from Matt...but without that, only one in ten boats might see a boar at all. And you don't have the noise from the air boats scaring all the wildlife...beautiful area!

Brilliant tour. Was such a revelation.

"Our bus driver, John was..."

March 30, 2017 -

Our bus driver, John was helpful and friendly and when we got to the swamp tour our captain was Jules and he was funny and charming! We loved the tour and recommend it to anyone that isn and #39;t sacred or alligators.

"We opted for the hotel..."

March 26, 2017 -

We opted for the hotel pick up for this tour because we didn't rent a car. Our driver Lorraine was very nice and on our way to the Honey Swamp, she told us about the areas we were driving through and how they were affected by Hurricane Katrina. On the way back she welcomed us to the bus and then turned on nice music so we could just enjoy the drive.

When we arrived at the swamp, it appeared they were not very organized - but appearances were wrong. They have this down to a science. You arrive, stand in line, check in, and get your colored wristband. Then they group you outside by the colors of your wristbands and off you go with your Captain/swamp tour guide.

Captain Nathan did a great job giving us our tour. He really knows his stuff - he has a tough guy schtick but it's clear he enjoys his job and does a great job educating his guests. While on the tour we saw and learned about the plants that thrive in the swamp. We also saw turtles, wild boar, raccoons, and a couple of alligators. Captain Nathan explained that when the weather is chilly, the alligators are less active and that during tours in the summer, we would see a much higher number of them. He was really great about answering our questions thoroughly.

I'd say this tour is a must do!

"Great swamp tour with Captain..."

March 26, 2017 -

Great swamp tour with Captain Al. He was very knowlegable about swamps and wildlife. We saw some alligators despite not being best season, didn't get to see any wild pigs though Al did try and find them, we waited around a while but they didn't show. Swamps were so beautiful and peaceful. Really enjoyed few hour spent there. Very professional operation with Cajun Encounters, good value too.

"Loved this tour. Easy pick..."

March 23, 2017 -

Loved this tour. Easy pick -up from our hotel. Great drive over to Slidell. Our boat was covered but very open to fully experience the scenery. We did see Blue Heron, and other various birds. Beautiful swampland, three alligator sightings all small gators and we stopped to see two wild boar they were waiting for us as the guides feed them corn Overall, a very fun experience.

"The Good, The Bad, and..."

March 21, 2017 -

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly - The good was the tour itself, Captain Jacob was knowledgeable, interesting, and funny. We learned a great deal and saw several alligators. The bad was that we purchased transportation from New Orleans with our tour and first ended up on a small bus on which the driver was playing music so loud that we could not converse sitting next to each other. After several complaints, the driver turned it down. We were then transferred to a larger bus, which was almost full. We sat in the back and quickly realized that the air conditioner was not working in the back of the bus. Several people complained to the driver and he said he would turn it higher, but it didn't help. As the people on the front of the bus were first in line for the tour, they finished first and re-boarded the bus, again claiming all of the front seats. Those in the back on the way to the swamp ended up in the back again on the return trip. At this point, it was over 80 degrees outside and the air conditioner was not working at all. The ride was miserable. The ugly was the driver informed us that his dispatcher told him to drop us off about 6 blocks from our hotel, even though the transportation we purchased clearly stated that we would be dropped off back at our hotel. When we did walk back to our hotel, we saw no reason why the bus could not have dropped us off. Another customer on the tour was a woman staying at our hotel, and she had great difficulty walking. She used a cane extensively and literally had difficulty walking any distance at all. When she told the driver that she could not walk to the hotel, he simply kept stating that she had to get off here. It was obvious that this was not going to work for her. The driver was of no help at all. I would NOT use their transportation if you want to do this tour.

"The tour on the boat..."

March 20, 2017 -

The tour on the boat itself was very good. The guide was informative and we got the chance to see some beautiful natural environments and wildlife around NOLA.

There are two reasons for giving this a lower score however ..... bearing in mind I have used Viator previously and always been very pleased with the service
1 There was confusion about the hotel pick up time as there was inconsistent information between the website and confirmation email e.g. a time given but it was not clear if this was the tour start time or hotel pick up, sentances saying that 'hotel pick up is prior to start time' but no indication of what this was This was doubly confused as there was different amounts of information provided for the same tour but at a different time. This led to quite a bit of stress trying to find out when the pick up time actually was.
2 There was quite a lot of waiting around before the tour at the hub for the boat tours - 40min or so. There was then another wait after the tour - nearly an hour, for the return transport to arrive. It felt like this was engineered so that people would buy more in the shop. This also added length to the overall time so would advise that more accurate information is provided about the actual duration and you in fact need to block out perhaps 5 hours or so for this tour.

"The swamp was beautiful, however..."

March 14, 2017 -

The swamp was beautiful, however it was hard to hear the tour guide over the boat engine. They should really have microphones. The transportation was also disorganized, we received misinformation about the tour and company from the bus driver.

Our guide Ryan, was very fun and informative!!!

"Transport to and from the..."

March 5, 2017 -

Transport to and from the swamp was comfortable and quick - only drawback was the bus operator did not pull up to my hotel, for some unexplained reason, and requested that I go catch up with the bus, which was two blocks away. The tour itself was very entertaining, with the boat captain sharing his knowledge about the environs. Overall, an enjoyable experience.

"We enjoyed the tour immensely...."

February 5, 2017 -

We enjoyed the tour immensely. Seeing bald eagles and blue herons were the highlight for me, but I'm a bird nut. My spouse enjoyed the alligator and wild boar the most.

The tour guide was great and we saw much more than I expected for a Jan tour. Take your camera and enjoyI would highly recommend this!

"My adult daughter and I..."

January 23, 2017 -

My adult daughter and I very much enjoyed our swamp tour. The captain was funny and knowledgeable and everyone on the boat seemed to be having a great time! We spent eight days in New Orleans and having one of those days out in the swamp made for a nice change of pace. Thank you!

January 10, 2017 -

Amazing trip out to the swamp - a great break from the madness of New Orleans. Saw lots of animals - baby gator, wild pig, turtles, raccoons and lots of birds. Highly recommended!

"This is a great tour,..."

December 11, 2016 -

This is a great tour, and the guides made efforts to find interesting things to look at. However, we went the beginning of December, and the temperature was too low for most animals to be seen. We saw several birds and three turtles, plus the many cats around the dock. There were no alligators and it was very cold when the driver went fast over the water.

"real nice folk,nice long ride..."

December 4, 2016 -

real nice folk, nice long ride on river/swamp. jacob was knowledgeable about all things swamp...enjoy dat grilled boar!!!

"After a couple of days..."

November 25, 2016 -

After a couple of days in the city itself, it was nice to get out of town about a 45 minute drive to tour the swamp. The cypress trees are amazing! The gators were hiding during our visit, but we did see wild boar, beautiful blue herons, egrits.
A lovely way to spend an afternoon.

"What a wonderful trip. On..."

September 24, 2016 -

What a wonderful trip. On the way our bus driver kept us amused and informed and once there we met our fabulous guide. He was bought up in the area and was very respectful of the swamp. Not only did we have a close encounter with the alligators we also saw snapping turtles, snakes, birds, pigs. We also learnt about the environment of the swamp
too. The smaller boat with a cover gave everyone a great view and kept us a little cooler. Just perfect loved drifting through the bayeux.

"Great for those who can't..."

September 3, 2016 -

Great for those who can't drive the guide on the boat was amazing, really managed to get some terrific shots with my Canon camera, very different and special from the other swamp tours.

"Good tour but overpriced. Saw..."

July 3, 2016 -

Good tour but overpriced. Saw a lot of alligators but nothing else. The tour should be 1 hour for maybe $30.

"Beautiful trip and excellent and..."

May 14, 2016 -

Beautiful trip and excellent and friendly guides. An activity not to be missed while on a new orleans trip.
Only suggested improvement is the duration of the trip which can be lengthened.

May 3, 2016 -

Highly recommended! Comfortable bus ride out and back. Great staff! Captain Troy was funny and made sure we got to see everything we wanted, upclose! Fantastic company! Can and #39;t wait for my next trip to NOLA and your with this company.

"I only really wish I..."

February 29, 2016 -

I only really wish I could have seen more! Tour guide was funny and informative.

"This was so amazing!!!!! We..."

November 24, 2015 -

This was so amazing!!!!! We really enjoyed our tour. The guide was friendly and very knowledgeble.
i would recommend tying your hair back and wearing sunblock. The boat really picks up speed, so a jacket is nice idea. The hotel pick up was tricky though. Be sure to call several days ahead to make sure you're on the list for hotel pick up.

"This was the worst ever...."

November 16, 2015 -

This was the worst ever. When I call to confirm a week ahead of time they said we didn't pay for transportation. 2 phone calls later They finally agreed we did pay for transportation. They did pick us up after 45 min wait after pick up time and 2 calls that they said they were on there way but When we got to the swamp ----they said we owed 66 more for the tour! We paid it. Then the boat dies in the water after 10 mins. and we lost half the tour waiting for another boat to tow us in and getting another boat. so we didn't see any wild life since we didn't get up into the swamp. So we had half a tour for twice the cost!!!!!!!!!
Again many phone calls had to be made we use you so that it is once and done Can't believe they charged us twice! we had half a tour for twice the cost!!!!!!!!!

"Entertaining tour. Bus pickup was..."

October 31, 2015 -

Entertaining tour. Bus pickup was efficient, and the guide told us stories and history all the way out to the swamp. Safe boat, good guide. I'd recommend this company.

"This was a great tour..."

October 27, 2015 -

This was a great tour that took us both out on the Pearl River and into the backwater bayous. We loved seeing the alligators, boars, and raccoon, as well as the herons and egrets. There was plenty of time to stop for pictures and the boat felt safe.

"Our coach driver - Derek..."

October 24, 2015 -

Our coach driver - Derek - was very prompt and informative on our drive to Honey Island. He made sure that we all understood the check in procedure when we arrive and he made sure we all knew how the return pick up would work.
The boat operator was great. He made sure we were all safe he was informative and made the day fun.
We saw alligators and a raccoon. We found out that the alligators will hibernate when the weather gets cold so we were lucky to see all the ones we did. We did do the afternoon tour.
Definitely recommend. Was a great day.

"The Captain was very informative..."

October 13, 2015 -

The Captain was very informative about the swamp, and knew where all the critters were hiding. The ride was fun, and I recommend it to everyone.
